In late October 2011, TheWrap’s Lucas Shaw reported that THR.com editor Joseph Kapsch — only a few months into the job — was on his way out. Kapsch publicly disputed the report.

Then

Patrick Day, THR’s deputy web editor, had just left to return to the LA Times. Lucas Shaw’s TheWrap piece took that departure as a leading indicator and reported that Kapsch himself was on his way out. Kapsch denied the framing publicly. The broader THR.com context, in October 2011, was that Janice Min’s relaunch had been generating high traffic but also high editorial-staff churn.

Now

Joseph Kapsch did continue at THR for a stretch after the Wrap report, validating his October denial. Lucas Shaw moved from TheWrap to Bloomberg, where he has been one of the most-bylined entertainment-business reporters of the late 2010s and 2020s. The Janice Min era ended in 2017; the PMC acquisition of THR closed in 2020.
