In late April 2012, Hollywood Reporter writer Joseph Kapsch announced he was leaving THR.com to join Celebuzz.com as executive editor under Dylan Howard.
Then
Dylan Howard had been one of the most-active editorial figures in American celebrity-news through the late 2000s and early 2010s. His tenure at Star magazine and Radar Online had built him a substantial reputation for breaking-news cadence on celebrity stories.
Joseph Kapsch had been one of THR.com’s recurring bylines during the trade’s substantial digital build-out under Janice Min’s editorial direction.
BUZZMEDIA had been one of the more active mid-2000s digital-media buyers.
Now
Dylan Howard’s subsequent career has been substantially turbulent. He returned to AMI as Chief Content Officer in 2013, where he was deeply involved in the AMI-Trump-administration-era story-suppression cycle that became publicly documented across multiple 2018-2019 federal investigations and journalistic exposés (most notably Ronan Farrow’s Catch and Kill). Howard left AMI in 2020.
Joseph Kapsch continued in editorial work across the post-Celebuzz years.
Celebuzz continued operating under BUZZMEDIA ownership before subsequent reorganizations.
The Hollywood Reporter has continued under multiple subsequent ownership cycles. Janice Min’s editorial era at HR ended in 2017.
The 2012 piece reads now as a documented moment in a celebrity-news editorial network that was about to be substantively reshaped by the 2018-and-after AMI-Trump-cycle disclosures.
